Join the Customer Excellence domain at Tryg and help shape the future of data-driven customer engagement. As a Data Engineer, you will build scalable data pipelines, work with modern technologies such as Databricks, Kafka, and Python, and turn complex data into trusted, business-critical assets. If you are passionate about data engineering, cloud platforms, and solving technical challenges in a collaborative environment, this is an opportunity to make a real impact.
About the job | Data Engineer
Data is one of the most valuable assets for Tryg, and customer engagement is one of the key strategic pillars for our entire business. You will work at the intersection of both as you will transform data into actionable insights that drive meaningful customer experiences.
Data engineering plays a critical role in our data journey, as we integrate with ever more systems/sources, implement streaming, and standardize our raw data assets through modelling.
Customer engagement data is scattered across a multitude of different systems, and to work with customer data and processes at scale, we have built a modern cloud native foundation based on a combination of open source and proprietary software to enable easy, purpose-driven, and compliant access to data from those systems.
In your role as our new Data Engineer, you will work with cutting-edge tools and technologies on building and maintaining data pipelines for the Customer Excellence domain sources and applications on the data platform. You will be given responsibility for tasks such as:
- Deconstruct and “understand” data from source systems through an end-to-end ETL process
- Design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines, as well as CI/CD processes for data workflows and infrastructure
- Development of foundational application components
- Coordinate efforts of the extended team of both in-house and external developers, and follow up on technical/infrastructure changes with our Platform team
- Ensure code quality across all relevant applications, including compliance with established DevOps principles
- Coordinate ingestion of raw data from new streaming, batch, and API-based data sources
- Development of AI and ML components for internal use cases
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance
- Work on custom integrations to and from both 1st and 3rd party systems
As a data engineer at Tryg, you will mainly be working with technologies such as SQLMesh, Databricks, Java, Python, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, Redis, GitLab CI/CD, REST APIs, and we expect you to be familiar with at least some of them.
About you | Curious, proactive, and passionate about data engineering
To be successful in the job, we expect you to have a relevant education in software engineering, data engineering, data science, data management, or similar.
Our data engineering tech stack is heavily focused around Databricks, Kafka, and big data processing. It is a definite advantage if you can demonstrate experience from that area, but experience as a software engineer or data scientist, genuine curiosity, and a desire to invest in your own development can compensate for a lack of hands-on experience. If you have only worked with Java or Python development and batch processing but want to expand your skillset with streaming – we'd still love to hear from you!
We are looking for someone who takes the initiative to solve problems and get things done. You see technical challenges as an exciting new obstacle to overcome, and a reason to improve your skills. To succeed in the role, you must be self-driven and strive to challenge the status quo.
Our teams are international, so you communicate clearly in English, and preferably also in a Scandinavian language, both verbally and in writing.
About us | The Customer Excellence domain

We look forward to hearing from you!
